Mike Hampton's fiction has appeared in journals such as The Southeast Review, The Rio Grande Review, The Pacific Review,  3AM Magazine, and many others. His stories have also been anthologized in the collections "New Growth" published by The Jesse Stuart Foundation and "American Stories" which is to be published in Israel. He is a two-time finalist for The World's Best Short Short Story Prize and has given lectures at numerous colleges.

Mike's poetry has appeared in The Haight Ashbury Free Press and in Main Street Rag. His essays have appeared in Paradigm, Me Three, and other publications. His humor has appeared online and in the anthology Mountain Man Dance Moves: The McSweeney's Book of Lists.
